Bel­lis­si­ma Bal­loons and Gin­ger Lily Or­gan­ics TT, led by founder and eco-en­thu­si­ast Day­chelle Mor­ris, is in­ten­si­fy­ing its mis­sion to pro­mote en­vi­ron­men­tal re­spon­si­bil­i­ty through a grow­ing se­ries of cre­ative, hands-on work­shops for chil­dren and adults.

Mor­ris, an avid hik­er for the past six years, cre­at­ed Gin­ger Lily Or­gan­ics TT out of a deep ap­pre­ci­a­tion for Trinidad and To­ba­go’s flo­ra and fau­na. Her mi­cro-busi­ness pro­duces a range of or­gan­ic, ve­g­an and cru­el­ty-free soaps, scrubs, body but­ters and eco-friend­ly can­dles in­spired by Caribbean scents such as Sug­ar Cane & Bam­boo, To­co Sun­rise, Cha­co­nia, Frangi­pani and Gin­ger Lily. Sev­er­al soaps are al­so named af­ter beloved na­ture spots like Tu­rure Wa­ter Steps and Av­o­cat Wa­ter­fall, help­ing high­light the coun­try’s eco-tourism ap­peal.

Her work­shops blend cre­ativ­i­ty with en­vi­ron­men­tal ed­u­ca­tion—a vi­tal fo­cus, giv­en the World Bank’s rank­ing of Trinidad and To­ba­go as the world’s high­est pro­duc­er of mu­nic­i­pal sol­id waste per capi­ta. Mor­ris be­lieves this makes ear­ly en­vi­ron­men­tal aware­ness es­sen­tial.

“There’s a re­al dis­con­nect,” she said. “We need to teach chil­dren not to pol­lute our wa­ter­ways and to un­der­stand how tox­ins and plas­tics harm ma­rine life and the wider food chain.”

Bel­lis­si­ma has host­ed sev­er­al themed work­shops, in­clud­ing the Mer­maid Dreams Work­shop in Ch­agua­nas in 2022, where teens craft­ed or­gan­ic soaps and body prod­ucts while learn­ing about ocean con­ser­va­tion from Ocean Lit­er­a­cy ad­vo­cate Mer­t­ri­na On No­vem­ber 22 Bel­lis­si­ma held its first eco–soy can­dle-mak­ing work­shop, teach­ing par­tic­i­pants—in­clud­ing chil­dren as young as four—how to cre­ate sus­tain­able, plant-based can­dles us­ing re­cy­clable glass jars.

The com­pa­ny al­so col­lab­o­rates with lo­cal or­gan­i­sa­tions such as To­tal­ly To­co and re­cent­ly sent a cus­tom soap sam­ple box to the Heal­ing with Hors­es Sanc­tu­ary in Buc­coo, To­ba­go.

Bel­lis­si­ma’s up­com­ing work­shops in­clude Dis­cov­er­ing the Essence of You on March 7, 2026, a be­spoke fra­grance ex­pe­ri­ence in cel­e­bra­tion of In­ter­na­tion­al Women’s Day at a pri­vate pool­side venue in St Ann’s.
