Members of the Roman Catholic faith gathered in their hundreds two Sundays ago for Jesus Explosion 23.

The two-day event was held in the Cheryl Greaves Auditorium at Bishop Anstey High School East in Trincity and was once again hosted by Father Ian Taylor and his team, who ensured attendees were enriched with the teachings of Jesus Christ.

The event featured conversations, testimonies, workshops on various spiritual topics, praise and worship, Eucharistic adoration and the celebration of Mass.

However, the highlight this year was undoubtedly the contribution of visiting priest Father Anthony Abraham, from the US Virgin Islands. A son of the soil who was ordained 17 years ago and is now assigned to the Virgin Islands, Fr Abraham, appearing in his first stint at Jesus Explosion in T&T, delivered stirring talks and testimony to those gathered, leaving them enriched by the word of Jesus Christ. Father Abraham is no stranger to JE though. He also appeared when the JE team visited the US Virgin islands in 2017, representing his St John Parish, alongside Bishop Neil Scantlebury (St Thomas), during that forum.

At the end of this year's event, Fr Abraham, the son of deceased calypsonian Samuel “Brigo” Abraham, endeavoured to return to T&T.

The gathering was also moved by Luke Walker, who gave testimony on how he gave up a lucrative career opportunity after graduating from the Berklee College of Music and Harvard University in the US to return home to join the priesthood. Walker is currently at the Seminary in Mt St Benedict. Thomas Armoogam also engaged the gathering as he testified on his conversion to the faith after years as a Jehovah’s Witness.
