A powerful tribute to soca and calypso legends returns to the spotlight on Wednesday at National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) and Thursday at Southern Academy for Performingg Arts (SAPA), from 6 pm nightly, following the overwhelming success of its inaugural staging last February.
Themed Gone But Not Forgotten, the spectacular production makes a triumphant comeback, promising an even bigger, bolder and more emotionally stirring celebration of the icons who shaped Trinidad and Tobago’s musical identity.
The show honours the timeless contributions of Rootsman, Ras Shorty I, Blaxx, Arrow, Zandolie, Brigo, Funny, Maestro, Shadow, Singing Francine, Swallow and several others whose music and messages continue to resonate across generations.
Their unforgettable songs will be reimagined and performed by today’s most popular soca and calypso artistes, creating a powerful bridge between past and present while keeping the legends’ legacy alive for a new audience.
Adding to the flavour are special guest appearances by Ninja, who will deliver his popular composition Pensioner’s Anthem, and Mistah Shak, performing his hard-hitting Carnival-season piece FA/FO.
Last year’s event proved to be nothing short of magical, as patrons sang, danced, reminisced and celebrated the lives and music of those who paved the way. The atmosphere was electric, the performances deeply heartfelt, and the audience response overwhelming.
This year’s staging is set to raise the bar even higher, delivering a richer, more dynamic and more entertaining experience. With the charismatic Sunny Bling serving as Master of Ceremonies, audiences can look forward to laughter, storytelling, nostalgia and non-stop vibes from start to finish.
