National Freestyle Champion Preedy (Akeem Chance) delivered an unforgettable surprise during his Acoustic Experience last Sunday when multiple Road March winner and soca queen Patrice Roberts joined him on stage to debut their new duet, Bacchanal Mode. For Preedy, the moment was surreal—a vivid reminder of his journey and burgeoning legacy.
“That was definitely one of the highlights of the night,” he said, after taking photos and thanking fans, friends, and patrons for an extra 40 minutes following the show.
“We didn’t even have all the lyrics and harmonies down yet, but singing with my sister on stage took me back to when I wrote my first song and reminded me how far I’ve come.”
The event drew patrons to a lush St Clair backyard, a venue carefully chosen to create an intimate atmosphere celebrating Preedy’s artistry and vocal prowess.
Roberts praised her longtime collaborator, noting, “I applaud and celebrate my brother Preedy for his determination and drive. He has always supported me and contributed to my success, so it’s amazing to see him achieving his goals and growing as a man and as a brand. Bacchanal Mode is officially switched on, and we’re gearing up for a fantastic Trinidad Carnival season and an exciting 2026.”
Guests enjoyed a curated experience: HybridTT served refreshing cocktails infused with indigenous flavours, while Cup of Joe Cafe offered delectable bites. Hosts Jynnyn and Akeem 5.0 kept the entertainment flowing from sunset to showtime, as opening acts Aaron Duncan, Kimba Sorzano, and Tevin Hartman set the stage for Preedy’s grand entrance at 8 pm.
With confidence and charisma, Preedy commanded the stage for over two hours, weaving musical stories, singing background for other performers, and pouring his passion into every note. The night featured soul-stirring performances from singer-songwriter Kimi, reggae icon Isasha, Patrice Roberts, and the Freetown Collective, with live music by Temperature The Band and choral accompaniment by Armonias Magnificas.
International culture journalist Jeanette “JLova” Mitchell, covering the event for TEMPO and Overtime Media, highlighted Preedy’s cultural impact:
“In the ongoing conversation about soca and cultural preservation, it’s inspiring to see an artiste like Preedy representing the culture with intention. His ‘Acoustic Experience’ series showcases storytelling, live musicianship, and authenticity, proving that his artistry continues to grow while honouring soca’s roots.”
Self-proclaimed “Sauce Boss”, Preedy continues to ride the wave of success with the release of the Bacchanal Mode song and music video this week, while his debut track Jammin continues to gain traction with DJs, playlists, and soca lovers alike.
