Rum Brunch 2025 transformed the Garden Sanctuary in Macoya into a whimsical escape, delivering a well-attended lifestyle experience inspired by the fantastical world of Alice in Wonderland.
Hosted by the creators of Rumsicles, the event once again blended food, cocktails, music and visual storytelling into an immersive afternoon-to-evening journey. Despite intermittent rainfall, patrons turned out in strong numbers, fully embracing the theme and leaning into the playful, dreamlike atmosphere.
Event creator Calika Grayson, known on stage as Cali Gray, said the response affirmed the spirit behind the concept.
“Wonderland gave us permission to be imaginative and expressive,” she said. “It was about creating a space where people could escape the ordinary and enjoy something light, creative and intentional.”
Grayson’s mother and Rumsicles co-founder, Ann Marie George, echoed the importance of collaboration.
“This experience only works because of the people who believe in it,” she said. “From our partners to our patrons, everyone added something special.”
Food, décor and music emerged as clear highlights of the day. Guests enjoyed inventive brunch offerings such as wontons, tacos, lasagna rolls, mash and jerk, alongside desserts that have become Rum Brunch staples. These were paired with rum-forward cocktails and signature Rumsicles treats. Beverage and lifestyle partners—including Campari, Monster Energy, Pulse Energy Drink, Joe’s Cocktail Rehab, Amcot T&T and Heights of Slay—added subtle layers to the overall experience.
Décor and stage design by Jaque Designs and Zig Boi Events leaned heavily into fantasy and garden elements, transforming the venue into a stylised Wonderland that balanced visual drama with relaxed charm. The White Rabbits and Mad Hatter moko jumbies added to the spectacle, enhancing the event’s theatrical flair.
Music carried the experience from day into night with performances by zess queen Lady Lava, Barbadian soca artiste Marzville, St Lucian hitmaker Motto and fire breather Kellie Djumbie. Cali Gray also premiered her 2026 soca release Rudy, offering patrons an early taste of the Carnival season ahead.
With another successful staging complete, Rumsicles is already looking ahead to the new year.
“When people connect with the experience, they show up,” Grayson said. “That’s what keeps us building.”
