Seventeen women will compete for the Miss Trinidad and Tobago World 2026 title, with the candidates formally unveiled at an event in Maraval last Sunday.
The delegates were introduced at 5:30 pm at The Ivy Restaurant and Steakhouse, marking the start of this year’s competition.
The 17 candidates are drawn from communities across Trinidad and Tobago and include professionals from fields such as medicine, law and engineering, alongside models and social media influencers.
They are Jodane Griffith, Miss Arima; Zakiya Phillip, Miss Belmont; Fariba Bhaggan, Miss Chaguanas; Asabi Steele, Miss Diego Martin; Sierra Mohammed, Miss Gasparillo; Tineka Francois, Miss La Brea; Dominique Comissiong-Paris, Miss Marabella; Destene Alleyne, Miss Moruga; Sheyan Wade, Miss Phillipine; Ysabella Thomas, Miss Port of Spain; Tamara Persad, Miss Rio Claro; Nevaeh Maxwell, Miss San Fernando; Anjali Maharaj, Miss San Juan; Anna-Lee Cadogan, Miss South Oropouche; Peyton Rezende, Miss St. Ann’s; Alexia Matthews, Miss St. Joseph; and Shauna Baptiste, Miss Tacarigua.
The candidates will compete in a series of preliminary challenges, with success in selected events earning fast-track places in the Top 10.
Among the sub-competitions is the Top Model segment, which will assess the candidates’ performance on the runway, while the Talent competition will give them an opportunity to showcase individual abilities.
Public speaking will also feature prominently, with candidates taking part in a Head-to-Head challenge requiring them to discuss and respond to significant issues.
The Beauty With a Purpose competition will focus on social impact projects undertaken by the delegates, reflecting the community-service component associated with the Miss World platform.
Candidates will also compete in Social Media, Fitness and People’s Choice segments.
The Social Media Challenge will assess their engagement and reach on digital platforms, while the Fitness Challenge will focus on physical strength, wellness and determination.
The People’s Choice segment will give members of the public an opportunity to vote for their preferred candidate.
The preliminary competitions will form part of the process of determining which candidates advance to the Top 10 as the contest progresses towards the selection of Trinidad and Tobago’s representative at the Miss World competition.
