Xtra Foods brought together women from across communities for a celebration of empowerment, resilience and the transformative impact of women in society during a special event in commemoration of International Women’s Day at its South Park, San Fernando location last Friday.
The event created a vibrant platform for dialogue, inspiration and connection reflecting this year’s theme, #GiveToGain, which highlighted the power of generosity, mentorship and shared progress in advancing opportunities for women and girls.
The event featured an engaging lineup of speakers, including Miss Universe T&T Latifah Morris, Pretty Tough Project founder Priya Ramdial, Women In Motorsport TT vice chair Celeste Gajadhar, who each offered unique perspectives on personal development, innovation and the importance of breaking barriers for women.
There were also vibrant performances from Leeanna Dass and Nikhila Maharaj of the 411 Dance Theatre, as well as a powerful spoken word presentation by Gabrielle Abdool.
The event welcomed a diverse audience, including students from the University of T&T, whose presence reflected the importance of engaging and inspiring the next generation of leaders. Guests and customers also enjoyed product samplings and giveaways.
Xtra Foods CEO Angelo Daniel Austin emphasised the company’s continued commitment to celebrating and supporting women.
“International Women’s Day offers an important moment for reflection and recognition. At Xtra Foods, we are proud to celebrate the remarkable women who shape our organisation, our communities and our nation,” Austin said.
“Through initiatives such as this event, we seek to create spaces that inspire dialogue, encourage leadership and reaffirm the value of investing in the potential of women and girls. When women are empowered to lead, innovate and thrive, the benefits extend far beyond the individual to the entire society.”
