As part of the cel­e­bra­tion for a Trin­ba­go Christ­mas, 25 women who en­rolled in the Min­istry of Sports and Com­mu­ni­ty De­vel­op­ment’s Food Prepa­ra­tion, Culi­nary Craft Class dis­played an as­sort­ment of dish­es for dif­fer­ent oc­ca­sions on Wednes­day.

Com­mu­ni­ty De­vel­op­ment Of­fi­cer Ra­jeev Jaglals­ingh said dif­fer­ent top­ics are taught from eight lo­ca­tions, how­ev­er, at Vic­to­ria West, the Yule­tide Christ­mas; Yule­tide Drinks and Desserts was the or­der for a six-week pro­gramme. Par­tic­i­pants were trained in Christ­mas bak­ing, cur­tain and drap­ery, and jew­el­ry mak­ing. This course helped the grad­u­ates to ex­pand on what they learnt by be­ing self-suf­fi­cient, cater­ing for them­selves or as a busi­ness ini­tia­tive.

The cer­e­mo­ny to mark the end of the class­es was held at the San Fer­nan­do North Com­mu­ni­ty Cen­tre. Jaglals­ingh com­mend­ed the women for ex­hibit­ing what they learned in a short space of time and urged them to ex­plore vi­able op­tions.

He al­so had high prais­es for the lec­tur­er who came through the Com­mu­ni­ty De­vel­op­ment Pro­gramme.

“The pro­gramme is geared to­wards the Christ­mas sea­son, once a year. It is a short course for trainees to take part in to earn some in­come for the sea­son. It was a suc­cess­ful out­come. The tu­tor is ex­cel­lent, hence, the class had a good work pro­duc­tion. Some al­ready be­gan to sell prod­ucts they learnt.”
