The two new mobile applications set to help destination T&T increase the impact of its digital marketing footprint were launched at World Travel Market (WTM) which ended yesterday in London.
Wanderscape and Birds of Trinidad and Tobago have piqued the interest of visitors to the T&T booth at the massive travel industry event.
Birds of Trinidad and Tobago is an app for birding enthusiasts and is available for free download during WTM.
Wanderscape, a social travel marketplace app, is designed to help travellers "discover, share and book authentic local experiences." It offers visitors a unique view of the destination with authentic experiences through the eyes of a local.
With regard to airlift, the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) announced on Monday that Thomas Cook Airlines will commence an air service direct from Manchester, England to Tobago from November 2016. This service will add 10,000 seats to the route, increasing capacity and reliability of the airlift.
In addition, Condor Airlines out of Germany has indicated interest in using Trinidad as a hub out of Barbados and British Airways will be strengthening its relationship with the destination through new marketing initiatives.
Tourism Development Company (TDC) CEO Keith Chin said several travel industry professionals and international investors have expressed interest in the T&T market. He also said several writers and journalists indicated interest in highlighting the destination's eco-adventure niche.
The T&T contingent at WTM includes senior officials from the THA led by Assemblyman Tracy Davidson-Celestine, Secretary for Tourism and Transportation, officials of the TDC led by CEO Keith Chin and other local tourism industry stakeholders.
