Southex Trade Shows and Promotions, in partnership with the T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Supermarket Association of T&T, will host the agriculture and food expo themed, Our Life, Our Business.
In a statement, Southex said the event will be held in August at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, San Fernando, adding that it is expected to be the largest undertaking for the sector in more than 20 years.
It noted that the event will focus on several factors including empowering stakeholders and expanding opportunities in agribusiness.
It will also focus on people-centred development, poverty reduction and food security.
Held from August 3 to 7, the event will also offer opportunities and cater to all aspects of the agricultural and food industry, the statement added.
“Additionally, the exhibition will also showcase all aspects of the industry’s operations and its contribution to national, regional and world stage goals for the sector’s continued development,” the statement added.
The event will also feature a host of other activities including a petting zoo, farmers’ market, agri booths, large agri-demo areas, food market, children’s play park, ‘live’ nightly entertainment, seminar sessions, corporate booths and an agri pavilion.
“It is our hope that through this event, we will raise the awareness of the business models and innovations in agriculture together with providing opportunities for linkages among the current and future stakeholders within the agricultural industry,” the statement added.
Additionally, it said the expo will also promote sustainable practices in forestry and fisheries while also demonstrating the nutritional benefits of using local produce.
