“Everyone is equal because everyone has 24 hours. The question is what do you do with your 24 hours.” These were the words of renowned international businessman, educator and leadership author Stedman Graham as he addressed the first annual Aegis Business Solutions Chairman’s Dinner. Held at the Renaissance at Shorelands, this exclusive dinner catered to dignitaries and senior executives of a range of businesses in Trinidad and Tobago.
Mr Graham shared with those gathered, insight into his most recent publication entitled, ‘Identity Leadership: To Lead Others You Must First Lead Yourself’. Citing this as the motivator behind hosting the dinner, Chairman of Aegis Business Solutions, Angela Lee Loy noted, “In order to govern any organisation well, we must know; understand and apply not just good leadership but great leadership to ourselves. Part of this is achieved through the constant renewal of knowledge and of course hearing from those who are succeeding at what you strive to do. That’s why I thought Mr. Graham was an excellent candidate to come share with us and I know what he had to say was well received by all in attendance.”

The dinner was a precursor to the Caribbean Corporate Governance Conference, yet another first for Aegis Business Solutions. The Conference themed; ‘Good Governance, Great Business’; brought together several speakers who are all experts and established in their various fields of study. Each one, brought to the fore the importance of corporate governance as it pertains to boards, SMEs, NGOs, family run business and millennials.
On leading the way for future generations Mr. Graham said, “We have to change the way we think about ourselves. We need to change our way of thinking, and what separates the winners from the losers is our drive.”
The conference is the first of its kind for Aegis.
“We’ve had fantastic support from corporate T&T which goes to show that this topic is one that we need to start the conversation. We’re definitely looking towards building on this success in years to come.” said Melissa Cobham, conference chairperson and manager of accounting, outsourcing and business development at Aegis.
All attendees of the chairman’s dinner walked away with an autographed copy of Graham’s book and memories to last a lifetime.
Chairman Angela Lee Loy presented a pop art painting by Halcian Pierre as a token of appreciation for Stedman Graham joining this remarkable moment for this business outsourcing firm.
