In this first semester, Volvo cars grew more than 80 per cent in its sales in T&T, compared to the same period in 2021.

According to a statement from the company, this means that during this period there were more than 60 new Volvo cars running in the country.

These numbers resulted in a 21 per cent market share in the premium category and the Swedish brand ranked third, the statement added.

“The results indicate that we are walking to the right place. Our customers are very open to buying our hybrids and fully electric cars. We are very happy to share this news and celebrate a new moment of the brand,” Vir Sieunarine, brand manager of Volvo at Massy Motors Group, said.

Much of these results came from sales of Volvo’s XC40 and XC90 models.

These models hit the number one sales spot in their segment (C-SUV and E-SUV) with more than 20 units, the statement also noted.

Tarcísio Triviño, managing director Importers of Volvo Cars Latam Hub, said, “For us, it is a great honour to have two of our cars reach the top spot in their segments. This proves we have a lot to offer and also to grow in our market.”

In addition to the growth in sales, the Massy Motors Group has also grown in its structure with its new Volvo showroom at Lady Young Road Morvant, Port-of-Spain which is also expected to increase sales 30 per cent.

“The decision to open a new showroom follows a very clear strategy because although sales have grown, our intention is to keep developing even more in the T&T market. We have a lot of exciting news coming and we hope to new technologies that further encourage electrification,” Triviño added.

Volvo Cars was founded in 1927 and as of December 2020, it employed approximately 40,000 people.
