Energy and Energy Industries Minister Stuart Young met yesterday with the leadership of Unipet to discuss the company’s role in sustainable energy consumption.
Minister Young met with Chairman of Unipet Limited Dr. Afraz Ali, Chief Executive Officer at Unipet Limited, Dexter Riley and other members of the Unipet Board of Directors.
Permanent Secretary (Ag) of the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries Sandra Fraser was present at the meeting held at the Ministry’s International Waterfront Complex Office.
In a release, the Ministry said, “The purpose of the meeting was to discuss pertinent issues relating to Unipet’s business development including sustainability and adding value to stakeholders and customers.”
The Ministry stated Riley complimented the national vision being pushed forward by the Minister in relation to the energy sector and renewable energy.
Riley pointed out that Unipet currently has three functioning charging stations with solar power, located at Lady Hailes, San Fernando; Brentwood and Aranguez and has also begun to take some of its networks off the grid.
According to the release, Riley also expressed “his appreciation for the efforts of the Minister in terms of stakeholder engagement within the energy sector.”
Minister Young said he is committed to dialogue with Unipet and all energy stakeholders to ensure the sustainable supply, efficient use of energy and overall resilience of the energy sector.
