One man was arrested and two firearms and quantities of ammunition and cannabis were seized during anti-crime exercises in the Southern and North Eastern Divisions between Thursday and yesterday.
In a release, the TTPS said in the latest incident, Task Force officers in the Southern Division conducted an exercise around 12.30 am yesterday, where they initially attempted to intercept a vehicle in Claxton Bay.
However, the driver allegedly refused to stop, resulting in a high-speed chase which eventually ended along the Caroni Savannah Road. Officers reportedly searched the vehicle and found .2 kilogrammes of cannabis hidden in the trunk.
The suspect, a 43-year-old Morvant man, was arrested in connection with the find.
Meanwhile, officers found a Beretta pistol loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition in a bushy area at El Carmen Road during an anti-crime operation in the Santa Cruz between 5 am and 9 am on Thursday.
A pellet gun was also found in Upper Santa Cruz and a quantity of cannabis discovered along Saddle Road, San Juan.
Investigations are ongoing into the above matters.
The operation was spearheaded by acting Snr Supt Carty, Supt Birch and ASP Callendar and included officers of the Santa Cruz 2 Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the San Juan CID, North Eastern Division Task Force and the Canine Branch.
