There were no new COVID-19 death reported in Tobago last week, according to the latest weekly update, covering the period Sunday 16 to Saturday 22 October 2022, from the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).

As such, the island’s death toll from the disease remains at 286, as at Saturday, October 22.

In addition, the THA Health Division report notes 10 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Tobago, last week. The number of active infections, as at Saturday, October 22, was 53. This represents a slight increase from the previous week (9-15 October 2022), at which time there were 47 active cases.

In terms of hospitalisations for COVID-19, the Health Division reports that six people are hospitalised, four of whom have not been vaccinated against the disease, while the remaining two patients are said to be fully vaccinated.

The Tobago COVID-19 update also reports that patients continue to survive the disease as four people were certified as recovered from COVID-19 during the period October 16 to 22, 2022.

A total of 10,896 in Tobago have recovered from COVID-19 since March 2020—up from 10,892 the previous week.

Despite finding out just three days earlier—on December 23—that I had breast cancer, I still got dressed and showed up on December 26, Boxing Day, for a birthday party. I didn’t go to escape the truth. I went to remind myself I was still here, still living, still me.
