Some 21 people were arrested yesterday during coordinated State of Emergency (SoE) operations across the northern and southern policing divisions, with 11 suspects held for gang-related offences.
According to a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), between 3 pm and 7 pm on Thursday 24 July 2025, officers from the Arima Criminal Investigations Department, Guard and Emergency Branch, and the Municipal Police conducted an intelligence-led exercise in Arima, Wallerfield, Guanapo, and Malabar.
The 11 suspects—who ranged in age from 19 to 44 years—were arrested in connection with ongoing gang activity in the Northern Division.
Five others were detained for possession of firearm and ammunition, and possession of cocaine for trafficking. Officers recovered a black revolver loaded with six rounds, along with a pistol loaded with a magazine containing 16 rounds of ammunition.
Two suspects, aged 41 and 39, were arrested for assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Two others from Arima were held for outstanding enquiries into store breaking and larceny.
In a separate operation in the Princes Town district, police arrested a 19-year-old man after they discovered a homemade shotgun in an abandoned structure near his New Grant home.
