Thir­teen artistes will be com­pet­ing against GI Be­har­ry for the ti­tle of Chut­ney So­ca Monarch, while five women al­so will be com­pet­ing for the Queen of Chut­ney So­ca ti­tle which Nisha Ram­sook will be de­fend­ing on Sat­ur­day night at SAPA, says Southex, or­gan­is­ers of the Chut­ney So­ca Monarch com­pe­ti­tion.

Southex re­ports that the line-up is one com­peti­tor short, how­ev­er, as Nee­shan ‘Hit­man’ Prab­hoo is await­ing the re­sults of a Covid test and has opt­ed out of the com­pe­ti­tion as a pre­cau­tion.

“We wish him a speedy re­cov­ery should he test pos­i­tive,” Southex says in a news re­lease.

Southex has con­firmed that the Chut­ney So­ca Monarch event will be held in front of a lim­it­ed ‘live’ au­di­ence will be broad­cast on the State tele­vi­sion sta­tion TTT.  It al­so will be avail­able to an in­ter­na­tion­al au­di­ence via the ‘Southex Live Events’ YouTube page.

“The Grand Fi­nal will fea­ture a spe­cial open­ing per­for­mance by the ‘World’s Great­est Chut­ney So­ca Artiste’ Ravi B and his full band Kar­ma fea­tur­ing Nisha B and Ab­byshi. There will al­so be an open­ing dance by the Khal­nayak Dance Acad­e­my,” Southex not­ed.

“The Fi­nal will be host­ed by ‘Nah’ News an­chor, Ken­neth Su­per­sad and Big Rich D Pun­galunks. All artistes will be backed up by Kishore ‘Wiz­zy’ Ram­dath and Avatar the Band,” the com­pe­ti­tion or­gan­is­er said.

One in­ter­est­ing fea­ture is that the event will be judged by a pan­el of judges and in­clude a text vot­ing el­e­ment, pow­ered by BMo­bile, which will ac­count for 30 per cent of a con­tes­tant’s over­all score.

Southex says lim­it­ed tick­ets are avail­able for the Grand Fi­nal, which takes place at SAPA in San Fer­nan­do on Sat­ur­day 26th Feb­ru­ary. All pub­lic health pro­to­cols will be ob­served, and all pa­trons must show proof of vac­ci­na­tion.
