Fifteen men have been arrested in separate police exercises in Sangre Grande, Arima and San Rafael for outstanding court-ordered maintenance payments.
Police said the arrests were made between Thursday and Friday during warrant-execution exercises targeting men who had failed to meet their legal obligations.
In Sangre Grande, a 24-hour exercise which began at 9 am on October 8 resulted in the execution of 16 warrants and the arrest of 12 men.
Ten men, aged 31 to 54, were held on outstanding affiliation warrants. Another man, aged 45, was arrested for failing to appear in court in an outstanding matter, while a further suspect was held for failing to pay a court-ordered fine.
The exercise was co-ordinated by Senior Superintendent Ettienne and Inspector Gadar, supervised by Acting Sergeant Babwah, and involved police and prison officers.
Meanwhile, a separate exercise in Arima and San Rafael between 11 pm on October 8 and 3 am on October 9 resulted in the execution of 10 affiliation warrants against five men.
The men, aged 23 to 44, were arrested in communities including Carapo, Malabar and Samaroo Village. Their outstanding payments totalled $40,500, with individual amounts ranging from $1,400 to $18,000.
A 40-year-old Arima man was also arrested on a warrant for failing to pay a $2,500 fine relating to a drug-trafficking offence.
The Arima and San Rafael exercise was spearheaded by Senior Superintendent Frank and Acting Superintendent McKenzie, with officers from the Arima warrant staff and the Northern Division Task Force participating.
