17 spent shells found at scene of Belmont man’s murder

A 42-year-old Bel­mont man be­came this coun­try’s lat­est mur­der vic­tim af­ter he was gunned down while sit­ting in his car on Mon­day night.

Po­lice said Michael Dun­can, al­so known as “Don­key,” had parked his sil­ver Nis­san Almera in front of his home on Lu­cien Road, Bel­mont Val­ley Road, around 9:55 p.m. when he was shot mul­ti­ple times.

A rel­a­tive who was in­side the house at the time heard the gun­fire and, up­on check­ing, found Dun­can slumped in the dri­ver’s seat with sev­er­al gun­shot wounds.

An­oth­er rel­a­tive con­tact­ed the po­lice. Of­fi­cers from the Bel­mont CID re­spond­ed along with a dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer, who pro­nounced Dun­can dead at the scene.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors re­cov­ered 15 spent 5.56 mm shells and two spent .40 cal­i­bre shells, along with two live rounds of am­mu­ni­tion.

Po­lice from the Re­gion I Homi­cide Bu­reau are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
