Police arrested 18 persons during an operation in the Northern Division on Friday.
The exercise took place between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and involved officers of the Northern Division Criminal Investigations Department, Northern Division Task Force North, Northern Division Intelligence and Operations Unit, Arima Charge Room, Arima Traffic Branch and San Raphael Police Station.
Police conducted searches in Brazil and Arima. Fourteen persons were held in connection with offences. Three men were arrested for robbery with aggravation. One man was held for wounding with intent. One man was arrested for robbery with violence. Three men were held for home invasion. Three other men were arrested for another report of home invasion. Four men were held for house breaking.
In a separate operation between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., officers of the Northern Division Task Force and Canine Unit carried out a house search. One man of Sherwood Park, Arima, was arrested in connection with a report of robbery with aggravation.
In another exercise between 7:00 p.m. and midnight, two men were arrested. Police said one is from Church Street, Caroni, and the other from Ragoo Street, Munroe Road, Cunupia. Both were held in relation to threats to public safety.
