18-year-old woman on bond for beating 66-year-old boyfriend

An 18-year-old woman was placed on a one-year bond to keep the peace af­ter plead­ing guilty to as­sault­ing her 66-year-old boyfriend.

She plead­ed guilty to ma­li­cious dam­age, as­sault oc­ca­sion­ing a wound, and lar­ce­ny, when she ap­peared vir­tu­al­ly be­fore Mag­is­trate Cheron Raphael yes­ter­day.

The woman was ar­rest­ed fol­low­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the re­port by a 66-year-old man, who said he was at home in east Trinidad on Sep­tem­ber 7, when they re­port­ed­ly got in­to a heat­ed ar­gu­ment.

Dur­ing the quar­rel, the woman threw items and dam­aged house­hold ap­pli­ances, as well as the wind­shield of the man’s ve­hi­cle, and al­so as­sault­ed him, caus­ing abra­sions to his hands.

She was al­so ac­cused of steal­ing sev­er­al items and cash amount­ing to TT$11,750.

Work­er sent for

psych eval­u­a­tion

A 24-year-old man who was ar­rest­ed af­ter al­leged­ly chop­ping his em­ploy­er at his Rio Claro work­place last week, was yes­ter­day or­dered to un­der­go a psy­chi­atric eval­u­a­tion.

The ac­cused was not called up­on to en­ter a plea when he ap­peared vir­tu­al­ly be­fore Mag­is­trate Ava Van­den­berg-Bai­ley in con­nec­tion with the No­vem­ber 19 in­ci­dent.

He was re­mand­ed to the St Ann’s Psy­chi­atric Hos­pi­tal un­til his next court ap­pear­ance on De­cem­ber 8.

He was charged on Wednes­day with wound­ing with in­tent to do griev­ous bod­i­ly harm.

Hard labour for

church ban­dit

A 23-year-old labour­er, who plead­ed guilty to break­ing in­to a church in Va­len­cia on Oc­to­ber 28, has been sen­tenced to nine months hard labour.

Daniel Ra­moutar, of Ori­on Cir­cu­lar, KP Lands, Va­len­cia, ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Cheron Raphael in the San­gre Grande Mag­is­trate’s Court yes­ter­day.

Po­lice said at 1 pm on Oc­to­ber 27, the pas­tor of the church se­cured the build­ing and left.

He re­ceived a call around 7.40 am the next day that the front door of the church was open. The pas­tor ar­rived to find one 43-inch smart TV miss­ing.

In­mate charged with

dou­ble mur­der

An in­mate cur­rent­ly serv­ing time for mur­der at the Max­i­mum Se­cu­ri­ty Prison, Gold­en Grove, has been charged with the 2014 killings of Rad­ha and Kr­ish­na Ramdeen.

Yunus Ali, 28, was charged with the of­fence via war­rant this week by PC Sew­dath of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions, Re­gion Three.

The 63-year-old man and his 57-year-old wife were found hacked to death at their home in Fuller­ton Vil­lage, Ce­dros, on Jan­u­ary 6, 2014.

Their house had been al­leged­ly ran­sacked and a quan­ti­ty of cash stolen dur­ing a home in­va­sion.

2012 cold case solved

The Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (HBI) Cold Case Unit has solved the 11-year-old mur­der of Muchiri “Much” Po­lo.

Po­lo, 23, of Bel­mont, was killed on April 10, 2012.

The mat­ter was re­ferred to the HBI Cold Case Unit for as­sess­ment and re­view by the Cold Case Spe­cial­ist.

The unit’s in­ves­ti­ga­tors con­duct­ed en­quiries on No­vem­ber 18, which led to the ar­rest of a Ch­agua­nas man.

Ste­fan Lewis, al­so called Stephon, a labour­er and PH dri­ver, was charged with Po­lo’s mur­der; as well as pos­ses­sion of a firearm and pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion.
