19 more lives lost to COVID, 13 with comorbidities

Nine­teen more peo­ple have lost their lives to COVID-19, with thir­teen of those peo­ple suf­fer­ing from co­mor­bidi­ties.  The Min­istry of Health’s up­date for to­day, Sun­day 9 Jan­u­ary 2022, re­ports that these lat­est deaths have pushed the na­tion­al toll to 3,066 lives lost.

Ac­cord­ing to the Min­istry’s up­date, of the 19 lives re­port­ed lost to­day: there were 11 el­der­ly males; four were el­der­ly fe­males; three per­sons were mid­dle-aged fe­males, and there was one young adult male. 

In ad­di­tion, the Min­istry notes that nine per­sons had mul­ti­ple co­mor­bidi­ties; four per­sons each had on­ly one co­mor­bid­i­ty; and six per­sons had no know med­ical con­di­tions.  The co­mor­bidi­ties ex­pe­ri­enced by these per­sons in­clud­ed: di­a­betes, hy­per­ten­sion, heart dis­ease, can­cer, de­men­tia, kid­ney dis­ease, asth­ma, and a his­to­ry of strokes.

Mean­while, an­oth­er 397 peo­ple have test­ed pos­i­tive for the dis­ease, based on sam­ples tak­en be­tween Jan­u­ary 3rd and 8th, mean that there are now 16,125 ac­tive cas­es of COVID-19 in the coun­try, at this time.
