Nineteen pupils who excelled in the 2023 Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) examinations have been awarded by TML San Fernando Primary School.

Among them was Mila Zoro, who achieved an outstanding score, coming close to perfection.

These pupils ranked among the best performers nationwide, prompting some parents to submit requests for their national ranking under the Freedom of Information Act.

During the event, acting school principal Wahida Mohammed-Narine applauded the students for their remarkable achievements. The top performers, including Zoro, Zia Khan, Arisa Rajan, Ehsan Ahmed, Kayleb Nandlal, Melanie Bajnath, Vinai Rajack, Christyana Singh, Sasthi Dabideen, Devisa Ramdial, Sidheshwari Ramsumair, Angelica Ali, Saeed Dhanraj, Alina Dwarkah, Divya Lutchmansingh, Reisha Bachan, Abdurahman Salim, Mikaeel Baig, and Anish Rampersad, were each presented with trophies in recognition of their outstanding achievements.

Mohammed-Narine revealed that out of the 69 pupils who sat the exams, an impressive 57 were accepted into their first-choice schools.

She said a remarkable 83 per cent of pupils gained admission to prestigious institutions such as Naparima Girls’ High School, Naparima College, ASJA Boys’ San Fernando, ASJA Girls, St Joseph Convent, and Presentation College, San Fernando.

“We had over 22 students who scored over 90 per cent overall, with some achieving perfect scores in one or more subject areas,” Mohammed-Narine revealed.

Expressing her satisfaction with the results, she urged pupils in lower grades to work hard and strive for success, emphasising the school’s commitment to recognising and supporting its top-performing students.

Mohammed-Narine highlighted the outstanding performance in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, saying the pupil’s scores exceeded the school’s expectations. She further emphasised the school’s continued dedication to acknowledging and honouring its highest-achieving pupils.

In addition to the SEA awards, students across different grade levels, from First Year to Standard Four, were recognised in three categories: top performer, most improved, and most disciplined. Mohammed commended the TML Board and the Ministry of Education for supporting the school’s commitment to fostering holistic development and academic excellence.

In the 2022 SEA exams, TML San Fernando Primary School had three pupils placing among the top eight nationally.

“This track record of success further solidifies the school’s reputation as a leading educational institution,” she added.

She noted that the recognition and celebration of the outstanding achievements of these young scholars serve as an inspiration to their peers and demonstrate the school’s commitment to nurturing academic excellence.

The school’s teachers also received awards for their contribution to the school.
