Al­most a month af­ter Ch­agua­nas busi­ness­man Im­raz “Clubs” Ali was found dead, two men have ap­peared in court charged with his mur­der.

Damien De­o­dath and Isa­iah Maikoo were re­mand­ed in­to cus­tody af­ter ap­pear­ing vir­tu­al­ly be­fore Mas­ter Whit­ney Franklin in the San Fer­nan­do High Court.

The charges al­leged that on a date un­known be­tween Sep­tem­ber 4 and Oc­to­ber 11, at Rafia Dri­ve, Roys­to­nia, Cou­va, they mur­dered Ali, 60.

They were charged fol­low­ing le­gal ad­vice from Act­ing Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions (DPP) Sab­ri­na Dougdeen-Jaglal.

De­o­dath was rep­re­sent­ed by at­tor­neys Prakash Ra­mad­har and Vis­han Gir­war, while Shali­ni Da­niper­sad, hold­ing for Tara­dath Singh, ap­peared on be­half of Maikoo.

Ali’s body was found wrapped in plas­tic and duct tape along the North Coast Road on Oc­to­ber 11. He had been miss­ing for more than a month.—Sascha Wil­son
