Almost a month after Chaguanas businessman Imraz “Clubs” Ali was found dead, two men have appeared in court charged with his murder.
Damien Deodath and Isaiah Maikoo were remanded into custody after appearing virtually before Master Whitney Franklin in the San Fernando High Court.
The charges alleged that on a date unknown between September 4 and October 11, at Rafia Drive, Roystonia, Couva, they murdered Ali, 60.
They were charged following legal advice from Acting Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal.
Deodath was represented by attorneys Prakash Ramadhar and Vishan Girwar, while Shalini Danipersad, holding for Taradath Singh, appeared on behalf of Maikoo.
Ali’s body was found wrapped in plastic and duct tape along the North Coast Road on October 11. He had been missing for more than a month.—Sascha Wilson
