Two suspects are scheduled to appear in the Sangre Grande Magistrate’s Court virtually today, charged in the recent murder of Jimmy Thomas.
The suspects were charged yesterday after investigating officers from the Arouca Homicide Bureau (Region II) received instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The suspects, aged 19 and 29, were taken into custody separately last week and were reportedly positively identified during identification parades.
Thomas was shot dead outside a bar at Boodoo Circular Road in Sangre Grande on May 25. He was liming at the bar with a friend at the time of the incident.
The friend left Thomas to go inside and the two suspects were walking by when they pretended to enter the bar. However, the two men then jumped Thomas.
Thomas put up a fight but one of the suspects drew a gun and shot him several times. As he lay on the ground, one of the suspects then grabbed his gold chain and the suspects then fled on foot.
