2 more lives lost to COVID-19, health ministry reports

Two el­der­ly males are the lat­est vic­tims of COVID-19, with their deaths bring­ing the na­tion­al death toll to 3,833 lives lost, ac­cord­ing to the most re­cent re­port from the Min­istry of Health.

The Min­istry notes that both de­ceased per­sons had mul­ti­ple co­mor­bidi­ties.  Among the co­mor­bidi­ties from which they suf­fered are di­a­betes, hy­per­ten­sion, and car­dio­vas­cu­lar dis­ease.

In its up­date for to­day, Mon­day 2 May 2022, the Min­istry of Health re­ports that 295 peo­ple have test­ed pos­i­tive for COVID-19, based on sam­ples tak­en be­tween 29 April and 1 May 2022.

At this time, to­tal ac­tive pos­i­tive cas­es are 8,630.  Some 189 per­sons cur­rent­ly are be­ing treat­ed in hos­pi­tal for the dis­ease.

As of to­day, some 148,630 peo­ple have test­ed pos­i­tive for COVID-19 in Trinidad and To­ba­go since pan­dem­ic track­ing be­gan in March 2020.

Cur­rent­ly, some 711,355 peo­ple in the coun­try are ful­ly vac­ci­nat­ed, hav­ing com­plet­ed ei­ther a one-dose or two-dos­es reg­i­men of a COVID-19 vac­cine.

And some 150,958 peo­ple have re­ceived their boost­er dos­es of a COVID-19 vac­cine, as of to­day, Sat­ur­day, the Min­istry’s up­date re­ports.
