Another pit bull attack has claimed the life of an 11-year-old autistic boy at his home on Clovis Trace, Maraval, on Tuesday night.Jessie Boiselle was found dead in a ravine at the back of his house around 9 pm.Police said his brother, Dillon Boiselle, left the family's home around 10 am on Tuesday and when he returned later in the afternoon found his younger brother had been mauled by their pit bull.Detectives said when they arrived at the scene, the dog, named "Damian," which had attacked Jessie, attacked them. The officers shot and killed it. Two other dogs, not pit bulls, remained on the property up to late yesterday evening.
In an interview outside the family's home yesterday neighbours said the boy had been mauled to death since earlier that day."Nobody knows what really happened. Is only Jehovah, the dog and the child know what really went on, but that happened earlier," a neighbour said. The neighbour said Jessie's mother, father and grandfather were deceased."Every day you could hear him (Jessie) bawling in the house. It is unjust. We, as a community, are responsible for his death," she said. The neighbour claimed Jessie used to stay unattended for days.Relatives who were returning to the house refused to comment on Jessie's death.Within the past year, one woman was mauled to death and several others were badly bitten by pit bulls.
They were:
• Alexis Timothy, 39, a father of one and construction worker, was mauled by pit bulls outside his home at Ramjass Trace, San Juan, in July. The dogs belonged to a neighbour.
• Denise Rackal, 46, a security guard, was mauled to death by pit bulls in Chaguanas three months ago.
• Carl Joseph, a father of two, of Taylor Avenue, Diego Martin, was attacked at a scrap yard in Four Roads, Diego Martin. Police shot the dogs while they were attacking Joseph.
• Ezekiel Renne Cambridge also was attacked by two dogs near his home in Palmiste, Chaguanas.
• Also in February, a 13-year-old Tobago girl was badly bitten by a pit bull while on her way home.
