Officers of the Coastal and Air Support Unit and Carenage Police Station detained 21 migrants in the Western Peninsula on Monday night.
Police said that around 11.30 pm, officers responded to information from the Radar Centre about a target heading towards Carenage.
Officers went to the area of the Bamboo Fish Market along Western Main Road, Carenage, where they detained a group.
Police said the group included 11 adult males, eight adult females and two male children aged 16 and six.
The exercise was led by Snr Supt Guy-Alleyne, ASP Callender and Insp Ramsingh.
The operation was coordinated by Sgt Martin and supervised by Cpl Daniel.
In a separate exercise, police of the North Eastern Divisional Task Force seized ammunition during an anti-crime exercise in the Barataria Police District on Monday.
Officers conducted a roving strategic drug block operation targeting drug blocks in the San Juan and Barataria Police Districts.
During the exercise, officers searched persons and areas along William Street, Aranguez.
Police reported that officers found a transparent plastic container with a blue cover hidden in a hole in a drain along the street.
The container held 21 brass cylindrical objects resembling 5.56mm ammunition. The items were seized by officers.
