A 23-year-old man from George Street in Port of Spain was charged with the mur­der of PC Dale May­ers, and sev­er­al firearm of­fences stem­ming out of an in­ci­dent that oc­curred on May 13.

Ish­mael Clarke, an un­em­ployed man, ap­peared vir­tu­al­ly at the High Court, be­fore Mas­ter Shabi­ki Caz­abon, charged with mur­der, pos­ses­sion of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion.

The hear­ing date has been set for Feb­ru­ary 28, 2025.

PC May­ers and two com­pan­ions were at a Ch­agua­nas es­tab­lish­ment when a male gun­man en­tered and at­tempt­ed to rob them. Dur­ing the in­ci­dent, there was an ex­change of gun­fire and PC May­ers was fa­tal­ly wound­ed, while the sus­pect fled the scene.

Fol­low­ing an in­ves­ti­ga­tion con­duct­ed by HBI Re­gion Three, and con­sul­ta­tions with the Deputy Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions (Ag.), Sab­ri­na Dougdeen Jaglal, Clarke was charged with the of­fences.
