Tweny-four schools throughout T&T were affected by the strong winds associated with a tropical wave on Thursday night.

Among the 24, Carapichaima East Secondary School sustained severe damage, as part of the roof covering classrooms was blown off.

Education Minister Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly said yesterday she got a list of the schools “with some measure of damage.”

She said the ministry will work with the National Maintenance Training and Security Company Limited to address the damage.

She, however, added that schools will open virtually on September 6 as planned, “so the impact would not be as great as it could have been were physical schools opening at this time.”
