His arrest Came following an exercise coordinated by Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro, Deputy Commissioner of Police Suzette Martin and ASP Stanley.

Police said between 5 pm and 8.25 pm, the exercise, conducted by Cpl Williams, Cpl Hyde, WPC Joseph and constables Jagram and Bristol, resulted in Edwards’ arrest.

Edwards was accused of throwing prohibited articles into the prison on February 27, June 1, June 10 and July 12.

He was also held and charged with possession of marijuana, which allegedly occurred on August 2.

Guevarro, in the media release, commended the diligent investigations by the team, including the prison officers involved. He said all attempts by criminal elements to smuggle contraband into the nation’s prisons will be intercepted and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
