Po­lice ar­rest­ed 26 peo­ple for out­stand­ing main­te­nance ar­rears and an­oth­er eight on war­rants for var­i­ous of­fences dur­ing a two-day ex­er­cise in Cen­tral Di­vi­sion.

Ac­cord­ing to the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS), of­fi­cers of the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion War­rants De­part­ment ex­e­cut­ed 34 war­rants dur­ing Op­er­a­tion Steady Guard be­tween 8 am on Sun­day and 12 pm yes­ter­day.

Po­lice said 26 af­fil­i­a­tion war­rants were ex­e­cut­ed for main­te­nance ar­rears to­talling more than $147,439.

Among those ar­rest­ed were a man from Pe­ters­field who owed $26,000 in main­te­nance ar­rears, a man from Sum Sum Hill, Clax­ton Bay, who owed $25,602, and an­oth­er Clax­ton Bay man who was in ar­rears of $21,402.

Po­lice al­so ar­rest­ed eight peo­ple on First In­stance War­rants for of­fences in­clud­ing wound­ing, shoot­ing, lar­ce­ny and traf­fic vi­o­la­tions.

Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Bhag­wan­deen, Su­per­in­ten­dent Glodon, Su­per­in­ten­dent Frank, As­sis­tant Su­per­in­ten­dent Her­nan­dez, As­sis­tant Su­per­in­ten­dent Ho­sein and In­spec­tor Ram­saran spear­head­ed the ex­er­cise, while Cor­po­ral Ra­mad­hin su­per­vised op­er­a­tions.
