All of the 29 cruise ship workers from the Carnival Fantasy Cruise Ship have tested negative for the COVID-19 according to one of the cruise ship workers who spoke to the Sunday Guardian anonymously.
The 29 T&T nationals had spent months aboard the Cruise Ship and landed in Port-of-Spain on Thursday.
They are all now quarantined at the National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua.
They are quarantined for 14 days and within that time there will be another test.
“All of our test results came back negative. We have one more test coming to the end of our 14-day stay,” the cruise worker told the Sunday Guardian.
The cruise worker added: “We are all happy about the results and also glad that we are spending this time together. Our family and friends have been able to deliver items for us as well. Even though the facility is not what we expected, we are really making the best of it together.”
The person also praised the medical staff for doing a “great job.”
The 29 nationals were among hundreds of cruise ship workers who have been clamouring for the Government’s intervention to return home after they became stranded in countries where they operate when T&T shut its borders in March.
