Police officers of the North-Eastern and Western Divisions on anti-crime exercises have arrested three suspects, and seized two firearms, a quantity of ammunition, and narcotics over the past 24 hours.
According to a release from the Police Service, North-Eastern Division (NED) Task Force officers conducted an exercise between 4 am and 7 am on Tuesday (December 31, 2024), during which they executed search warrants at the homes of two male suspects.
The searches led to the discovery of one AR-15 rifle, loaded with a magazine containing 21 rounds of ammunition.
The 41-year-old suspect from Malick, who was present at the time of the search, was arrested in connection with the find.
Meanwhile, in the Santa Cruz district, officers proceeded to the La Canoa home of a 32-year-old suspect. There, they conducted a search which resulted in the discovery of a quantity of cannabis.
The 32-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the find.
Also involved in the exercise were officers of the NED Gang Investigations Unit and the Canine Branch.
The TTPS also reports that between 5:30 pm and 10 pm on Monday (December 30, 2024), members of the Western Division Gang Intelligence Unit and West End Criminal Investigations Department (CID) carried out an anti-crime exercise in the Western Division.
The team had received Information that led them to an address on Adams Road, Diego Martin. During a search at that location, the officers found a Glock firearm with 16 rounds of 9-millimetre ammunition hidden in a chest of drawers.
A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the find.
The team also proceeded to Mercer Road, Diego Martin, where they searched an area near an educational institution. There, they discovered and seized a plastic bag containing 73.5 grams of cannabis.
The TTPS says investigations into these matters are ongoing.
