3 held, firearms and narcotics seized as cops ramp up anti-crime exercises

Po­lice of­fi­cers of the North-East­ern and West­ern Di­vi­sions on an­ti-crime ex­er­cis­es have ar­rest­ed three sus­pects, and seized two firearms, a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion, and nar­cotics over the past 24 hours.

Ac­cord­ing to a re­lease from the Po­lice Ser­vice, North-East­ern Di­vi­sion (NED) Task Force of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise be­tween 4 am and 7 am on Tues­day (De­cem­ber 31, 2024), dur­ing which they ex­e­cut­ed search war­rants at the homes of two male sus­pects.

The search­es led to the dis­cov­ery of one AR-15 ri­fle, loaded with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing 21 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion.

The 41-year-old sus­pect from Mal­ick, who was present at the time of the search, was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the find.

Mean­while, in the San­ta Cruz dis­trict, of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to the La Canoa home of a 32-year-old sus­pect. There, they con­duct­ed a search which re­sult­ed in the dis­cov­ery of a quan­ti­ty of cannabis.

The 32-year-old sus­pect was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the find.

Al­so in­volved in the ex­er­cise were of­fi­cers of the NED Gang In­ves­ti­ga­tions Unit and the Ca­nine Branch.

The TTPS al­so re­ports that be­tween 5:30 pm and 10 pm on Mon­day (De­cem­ber 30, 2024), mem­bers of the West­ern Di­vi­sion Gang In­tel­li­gence Unit and West End Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID) car­ried out an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise in the West­ern Di­vi­sion.

The team had re­ceived In­for­ma­tion that led them to an ad­dress on Adams Road, Diego Mar­tin. Dur­ing a search at that lo­ca­tion, the of­fi­cers found a Glock firearm with 16 rounds of 9-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion hid­den in a chest of draw­ers.

A 24-year-old man was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the find.

The team al­so pro­ceed­ed to Mer­cer Road, Diego Mar­tin, where they searched an area near an ed­u­ca­tion­al in­sti­tu­tion. There, they dis­cov­ered and seized a plas­tic bag con­tain­ing 73.5 grams of cannabis.

The TTPS says in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to these mat­ters are on­go­ing.
