A 23-year-old labourer, who allegedly sodomised a 12-year-old boy, has been granted $300,000 bail.
The man appeared before High Court Master Adia Mohammed yesterday charged with three offences, including sexual penetration, sexual touching and exposing a child or causing a child to be exposed to pornography.
The charges stemmed from an incident on May 3.
It is alleged that the accused and the victim had consumed alcohol, and the man had shown him three naked people kissing on his cellphone.
Later, the suspect allegedly assaulted the boy.
The boy’s father took him to the Oropouche Police Station, where they reported the incident, and the accused was subsequently arrested and charged by PC Dianand Heeralal. The boy was medically examined at a medical facility.
Following a bail application by his attorney Kiran Panday, the accused was granted bail on the condition that he report to the Princes Town Police Station on Sundays.
Master Mohammed also instructed him not to enter Siparia or have any contact with the victim.
The matter was adjourned to September 5 for a sufficiency hearing.
