The following is a press release the Ministry of Health:
As of the afternoon of Thursday, 27th August, 2020 the Ministry reports the following:
Number of samples submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), the UWI and other local sites for testing for COVID-19 22,576
Number of samples which have tested positive at public and private facilities in Trinidad and Tobago 1,476
Total number of active cases 867
Number of deaths 15
Number of persons discharged 594
The forty-seven (47) positive cases reported below show results from samples taken during the period August 19th to August 26th, 2020. Therefore, this figure is NOT representative of the positive cases over the last 24 hours only.
The Ministry of Health provides the following update:
· Forty-seven (47) additional persons have tested positive for COVID -19.
Of these 47 persons, 20 are nationals and 27 are non-nationals who are currently quarantined at the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force (TTDF) site. These individuals pose no risk of spread to the population of Trinidad and Tobago.
This brings the total number of non-nationals testing positive for COVID-19 during phase two to 44. Notably, the other 17 non-nationals were previously admitted through the parallel health care system.
All established protocols have been implemented.
