A magnitude 5.0 earthquake rattled Trinidad and Tobago yesterday evening, according to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI SRC).
The tremor was automatically recorded at 7.50 pm at a depth of 44 kilometres. Its epicentre was located at 10.82°N latitude and 61.80°W longitude—approximately 36 kilometres northwest of Port of Spain, 61 kilometres west-northwest of Arima, and 73 kilometres northwest of San Fernando.
The SRC noted that the preliminary data were generated by computer algorithms and may be revised after detailed analysis by seismologists.
As of press time, there were no reports of damage or injuries.
