5.5 quake shakes T&T

A 5.5-mag­ni­tude earth shook parts of Trinidad last night, send­ing so­cial me­dia in­to a fren­zy.

Ac­cord­ing to the UWI Seis­mic Re­search Cen­tre, the earth­quake took place at 8.41 pm, with Port-of-Spain and Ari­ma feel­ing the shake.

So­cial me­dia users from Cunu­pia, Clax­ton Bay, San Fer­nan­do, Tacarigua, and Gas­par­il­lo al­so felt the quake.

There was an­oth­er earth­quake at 10.08 pm, this time of 3.8 mag­ni­tude. Many of the same ar­eas re­port­ed feel­ing the af­ter­shock.

There were no im­me­di­ate re­ports of dam­age to any build­ings or in­fra­struc­ture.

Back on Au­gust 21, 2018, a mag­ni­tude 6.9 earth­quake rocked Trinidad and To­ba­go. That earth­quake saw sev­er­al re­ports of build­ings and prop­er­ties be­ing dam­aged.
