6 Venezuelans detained in Palo Seco

Six for­eign na­tion­als, who re­port­ed­ly are from Mar­gari­ta, Venezuela, are the lat­est de­tainees be­ing held by the lo­cal au­thor­i­ties for il­le­gal en­try in­to Trinidad.

Ac­cord­ing to of­fi­cial po­lice re­ports, the six Venezue­lans were de­tained by of­fi­cers of the South West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force dur­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise on Thurs­day 28th Jan­u­ary 2021.

The Po­lice Ser­vice says dur­ing the ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers re­ceived in­for­ma­tion re­gard­ing per­sons en­ter­ing the coun­try il­le­gal­ly.  That in­for­ma­tion led them to #4 Road, Pa­lo Seco, where they searched a forest­ed area and dis­cov­ered, and sub­se­quent­ly de­tained the il­le­gal im­mi­grants.

The Po­lice Ser­vice con­firms that the de­tainees were con­veyed to the Siparia Health Fa­cil­i­ty where they were med­ical­ly ex­am­ined, and then tak­en to the San­ta Flo­ra and Erin Po­lice Sta­tions. 

They are due to be con­veyed to the Coast Guard Base at the He­li­port in Ch­aguara­mas.

The ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr Supt Neil Bran­don-John, Supt Singh, Ag ASP Si­mon, su­per­vised Sgt Craw­ford and in­clud­ed of­fi­cers from the In­ter Agency Task Force.
