Thirty-three-year Vishnu Badal was remanded into custody yesterday, after appearing in court charged with the murders of 16-year-old Shenelle Singh and her brother Keston.
Badal, of Naggee Road, New Grant, Princes Town, was arrested by police last Thursday, the morning after the murders.
Shenelle and her brother were allegedly at the home of the suspect on September 4 when they were chopped to death with a cutlass.
Shenelle’s body was discovered on the ground a short distance away from the house, while her brother’s body was found slumped on a couch in the gallery.
There were chop wounds across Shenelle’s face and on her brother’s neck and feet. Shenelle was a student of the Mayaro Secondary School and her brother was a security guard.
Badal was charged by Cpl Ramoutar. He appeared virtually before High Court Master Margaret Sookraj Goswami and the charge was read to him. The status hearing was fixed for September 23, 2025, while a sufficiency hearing was fixed for October 7, 2025.
