Paria Fuel Trading’s acting general manager Joanne Sinanansingh has resigned.
Sinanansingh was head of the legal department and corporate secretary of Trinidad Petroleum Holdings Limited (TPHL), as well as Paria acting general manager, for the last seven months.
She stepped into the role following the resignation of Mushtaq Mohammed shortly after the General Election last year.
Guardian Media was told that Sinanansingh, who has been with the company for 25 years, from Petrotrin through its transition to TPHL, resigned in December to pursue an opportunity abroad.
Last December, Paria chair Nyree Alfonso told Guardian Media that she was on a recruitment drive for six managers. In addition, she said the State-owned energy company was also headhunting for a general manager and a small cadre of workers to stabilise the organisation in 2026.
Alfonso had said the company had gaps in its staffing requirements, “which we are moving apace” to urgently address. Paria has 130 employees, many of whom work on annual contracts. The company, she said, had begun advertising for the various positions, including a general manager.
“While people are still enjoying their ham and turkey, we will be out in full force, myself and a subset of the board interviewing for key positions in the company because we want to start 2026 on a strong footing,” she had said.
Paria was established in 2018, following the closure of the Petrotrin refinery. Its scope of services includes trading and marketing of refined petroleum products for import, storage and redistribution.
