The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has extended its yellow-level Adverse Weather Alert to 4:00 p.m. Friday. The TTMS warns of an increased risk of periodic heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms.
The Met Service also indicated that due to the prolonged rains there is an increased risk of street /flash flooding and landslides/landslips, particularly in areas with saturated soils. The consistent rainfall has also led to the implementation of a Riverine Alert – Orange Level mainly for rivers in the Caroni and south Oropouche river Basins.
The public, particularly those in flood-prone or hilly areas, is urged to remain vigilant, avoid flooded routes, secure loose objects, and continue monitoring official updates at www.metoffice.gov.tt
