The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has issued an adverse weather alert (Yellow Level) for the western half of Trinidad, including Port-of-Spain, Diego Martin, Chaguanas, Couva, San Fernando, and Point Fortin.
The alert is in effect from 11 am to 5 pm today. There is a 40 per cent chance of thunderstorms with excessive rainfall, gusty winds, and lightning. Officials warned of possible severe impacts, including flash flooding, localised ponding, displacement of loose items, and landslips or landslides in vulnerable areas.
Residents and motorists in flood- or landslide-prone locations are urged to stay alert, exercise caution, and take necessary safety measures. The public is advised not to drive through floodwaters and to monitor official weather updates at www.metoffice.gov.tt.
