The Trinidad and To­ba­go Me­te­o­ro­log­i­cal Ser­vice has is­sued an ad­verse weath­er alert (Yel­low Lev­el) for the west­ern half of Trinidad, in­clud­ing Port-of-Spain, Diego Mar­tin, Ch­agua­nas, Cou­va, San Fer­nan­do, and Point Fortin.

The alert is in ef­fect from 11 am to 5 pm to­day. There is a 40 per cent chance of thun­der­storms with ex­ces­sive rain­fall, gusty winds, and light­ning. Of­fi­cials warned of pos­si­ble se­vere im­pacts, in­clud­ing flash flood­ing, lo­calised pond­ing, dis­place­ment of loose items, and land­slips or land­slides in vul­ner­a­ble ar­eas.

Res­i­dents and mo­torists in flood- or land­slide-prone lo­ca­tions are urged to stay alert, ex­er­cise cau­tion, and take nec­es­sary safe­ty mea­sures. The pub­lic is ad­vised not to dri­ve through flood­wa­ters and to mon­i­tor of­fi­cial weath­er up­dates at www.metof­fice.gov.tt.
