The Meteorological Service has issued an adverse weather alert (yellow level) for Trinidad, in effect from 11 am to 6 pm today.
Forecasters say there is a 40 to 60 per cent chance of thunderstorms with heavy rainfall, gusty winds and lightning, especially in hilly and western areas. Possible impacts include flash flooding, localised ponding, landslips and landslides, as well as loose objects being displaced.
The public is advised to remain alert, avoid flood-prone areas, and not to drive through floodwaters. Motorists and residents in areas prone to flooding or landslides should exercise caution.
