The Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert has now been updated to include Tobago and is expected to remain in effect until 4:00 pm on November 27.
In a statement, the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) said, "The majority of the activity thus far has impacted mainly north Trinidad however, this activity is also expected to extend into Tobago.:
The TTMS added that an approaching trough continues to produce periods of light to moderate showers and areas of heavier showers and thunderstorms intermittently.
The release stated that some improvement is expected overnight however, showers and thunderstorms are forecast to increase in frequency and intensity from early morning. It also warned those in hilly areas to be cautious since there is a heightened risk of landslides and landslips as there has been continuous rainfall for the past few hours. Additional impacts include street/flash flooding and gusty winds in the vicinity of heavy downpours.
The public is urged to monitor weather conditions and assess surroundings before venturing out. In addition, the Met Service cautions against driving or wading through flood waters.
