Alleged gang members charged with 2019 murder

Three of the five men charged with the 2019 mur­der of Gar­vey Cam­po have been re­mand­ed in­to cus­tody, af­ter ap­pear­ing be­fore an Ari­ma Mag­is­trate, yes­ter­day.

Ac­cord­ing to an of­fi­cial state­ment from the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS), SE­AN­DEL DAVY, SYD­NEY VIARU­EL and WEN­RICK KING ap­peared be­fore the Ari­ma Mag­is­trates’ Court on Tues­day 28th Ju­ly, 2020. They had been charged with var­i­ous of­fences in­volv­ing the death of Gar­vey Cam­po fol­low­ing ad­vice re­ceived by Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions (DPP), Roger Gas­pard SC, on Fri­day 24th Ju­ly, 2020.

Gar­vey Cam­po was found shot to death on Mon­day 7th Jan­u­ary, 2019.

The re­main­ing two men—DARYL KRIS­TON BIS­SOON and PAUL GO­SEIN, who are cur­rent­ly re­mand­ed at the Max­i­mum Se­cu­ri­ty Prison, Arou­ca—will ap­pear be­fore an Ari­ma Mag­is­trate, to­mor­row, Thurs­day 30th Ju­ly, 2020.

The TTPS state­ment notes that:

- Wen­rick King, of Rose Dri­ve, Ever­green, Cara­po, was charged by of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (HBI), Re­gion Two, with mur­der, us­ing a firearm in the com­mis­sion of a gang-re­lat­ed ac­tiv­i­ty, and us­ing am­mu­ni­tion in the com­mis­sion of a gang-re­lat­ed ac­tiv­i­ty.

- Se­an­del Davy, of Rose Dri­ve, Ever­green, Cara­po, was charged with mur­der and know­ing­ly pro­vid­ing sup­port to a gang leader in the fur­ther­ance of the com­mis­sion of a gang-re­lat­ed ac­tiv­i­ty.

- Syd­ney Viaru­el, of Windy Hill, Arou­ca, was charged with mur­der, con­spir­a­cy to com­mit mur­der, and know­ing­ly pro­vid­ing sup­port to a gang leader in the fur­ther­ance of the com­mis­sion of a gang-re­lat­ed ac­tiv­i­ty.

- Daryl Kris­ton Bis­soon, was charged with mur­der, con­spir­a­cy to com­mit mur­der and be­ing a gang leader dur­ing the pe­ri­od Thurs­day 3rd Jan­u­ary, 2019 and Tues­day 8th Jan­u­ary, 2019.

- Paul Go­sein, was charged with con­spir­a­cy to com­mit mur­der, pos­ses­sion of a firearm to wit one Glock 9mm pis­tol which he rea­son­ably knew would be used in the com­mis­sion of a gang-re­lat­ed ac­tiv­i­ty and pos­ses­sion of 23 rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion which he rea­son­ably knew would be used in the com­mis­sion of a gang-re­lat­ed ac­tiv­i­ty.

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion al­so com­prised mem­bers from sev­er­al spe­cial­ized units of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS), which in­clud­ed the Cen­tral In­tel­li­gence Bu­reau, the Spe­cial In­ves­ti­ga­tions Unit (SIU), the Cy­ber Crime Unit and the So­cial Me­dia Unit.

The probe was spear­head­ed by Deputy Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice, In­tel­li­gence and In­ves­ti­ga­tions, Mc Don­ald Ja­cob; and As­sis­tant Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice, Cen­tral In­tel­li­gence Bu­reau, Wen­dell Williams.
