A La Horquetta teen, who was aspiring to be a national footballer, was gunned down on Tuesday night, a short distance from his home.
Police reported that around 8.50 pm, Ezekiel Ramdialsingh 17, of Oscar Pyle Crescent, Phase Four, was liming with a group when gunmen opened fire on them, hitting Ramdialsingh once in the chest.
He was taken to the Arima Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Speaking with Guardian Media at his home yesterday, a relative of Ramdialsingh, described him as an angel.
The woman said the teen recently started living in the community and spent the first 16 years of his life in Manuel Congo, with his mother.
The woman showed Guardian Media, Ramdialsingh’s trophies in his room and his medals, saying he had more at his mother’s home and gained all from playing football.
“I opened a car wash business for him right here. He used to always help out, whatever he had he would share. He wanted to make it to the national team. That was his passion. He had everything, his visa, everything. This was a case of being at the wrong place and the wrong time.”
While he was not identified as a gang member, police labelled his killing as gang related. Ramdialsingh’s murder took the toll to 114 for the year. —Jensen La Vende
