Assault rifle found in baby’s crib; woman arrested

A 33-year-old woman, who is a na­tion­al of the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic, was ar­rest­ed for pos­ses­sion of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion, af­ter po­lice of­fi­cers found a weapon hid­den un­der the mat­tress in a ba­by’s crib.

The Po­lice Ser­vice re­ports that of­fi­cers of the Gang Unit and Ari­ma In­tel­li­gence and Op­er­a­tions Team re­ceived in­for­ma­tion that led them to search a house in Cunu­pia.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands that a fe­male sus­pect who was in the house with a ba­by at the time of the ex­er­cise, dis­played sus­pi­cious be­hav­iour and al­leged­ly hid an ob­ject un­der the crib’s mat­tress.

The ob­ject turned out to be an AR-15 ri­fle, loaded with a mag­a­zine, con­tain­ing 100 rounds of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion.

The woman was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the find.

The op­er­a­tion, which was con­duct­ed be­tween 8 pm and 11 pm on Sun­day 22 June 2025, was su­per­vised by W/Sgt. Ra­mai and Sgt. Cae­sar.
