Officials have responded to an “explosive device” at Government Plaza, Port of Spain according to Chief Fire Officer Marlon Smith.
Officers from the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service have responded.
Queen Street, Edward Street, Richmond Street in downtown Port of Spain have been cordoned off, with officials investigating.
As a precaution, nearby government buildings on Government Plaza such as the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Ministry of National Security have been evacuated.
