An 11-month-old boy has died after he reportedly choked on vomit at his family’s Cumuto home on Sunday morning.
Police said the baby’s mother fed him a bottle at 3.45 am and put him to sleep.
She awoke around 5.30 am and while checking on him, noticed he had vomit around his mouth with his pacifier still in.
The woman removed the pacifier and noticed even more vomit in the child’s mouth and realised he was breathing irregularly.
An ambulance was called in and took the baby to the Arima Health Facility, where he was declared dead around 7 that morning.
Investigators said the baby had a history of several falls and was treated at the Arima Health Facility in the past.
Police from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II are continuing enquiries.
